Evo Morales and Ahmadinejad for Stronger Iran-Bolivia Relations
Bolivia wants to strengthen its relations with Iran, with whom it shares the determination to fight imperialism and injustice in the world, Bolivian President Evo Morales told Iran”s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
On the second day of his official visit to Iran, Evo Morales met with Ahmadinejad at the presidential palace in Teheran to examine several topics of bilateral, regional, and international interest.
According to sources close to the government, the two presidents plan to attend the signing of cooperation agreements for producing industrial machinery, developing projects in the food industry, and boosting Iranian investments in Bolivia.
Iranian newspapers reported that the two sides examined a previous agreement for US$ 1.1 billion in projects for the next five years, including Iranian investment in Bolivian industry, agriculture, and housing, among other sectors.
The construction of a cement factory in Bolivia with Iranian and Venezuelan financial support is also planned.
Morales discussed with Ahmadinejad and other Iranian authorities a US$287 million project to boost investment in his country in various fields, including the transfer of technology to make tractors.
On Monday, the Bolivian leader visited a tractor factory in Tabriz, where he stressed that Iran and Bolivia have the same revolutionary consciousness.
